Dr. Steven S. Grant

Dr. Steven S. Grant

Dr. Grant has owned and operated Grant Optometric Group since 1973.  He is licensed to use therapeutics in California and has passed the National Board Exam in treatment and management of ocular diseases.

Dr Grant is nationally recognized as an expert in the optometric field.  He was Supervising Examiner, Assisant Chief Examiner, and Chief Examiner for the National Board of Optometry in 1993, 1994, 1995-98 respectively.  He is a member of the examination development committee of the National Board of Examiners.  Additionally, he has been an Expert Examineer for the California State Board of Optometry in 1981 and for the years 1988 through 1993.  Dr. Grant has served as President of the California State Board of Optometry.  He has also been elected to the prestigious National Academy of Practice, a mutildisciplinary national advisory organization. 

Dr. Grant is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO)  and a Diplomate of the Cornea and Contact Lens Section.  He also has chaired the oral, practical, and case report committees fo that section.  He holds a Doctor of Optometry and Bachelor of Science degrees from Los Angeles College of Optometry (now Southern California College of Optometry).

Dr. Grant is a member of the Orange County Optometric Society, California Optometric Association, American Optometric Assocation and the Contact Lens Section fo the AOA.  He is also a member of the International Boards of Optometry and is a member of its contemporary issues committee.

Dr. Grant resides in Irvine, California with his wife Elaine and has two grown children Bryan and Kevin.  He is active in civic duties as well.  He has served as president of his homeowner's association, coached soccer for 10 years, and has served as President of the Orange County Bruin Boosters for 4 years and President of Costa Mesa North Kiwanis Club for 2 terms.

Dr. Cheryl Alderson

Dr. Cheryl Alderson is originally from Toronto, Canada and graduated from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry with honors.  She was the recipient of numerous awards, including the UC Berkeley International Scholarship, the Alcon Award for Clinical Excellence, the VSP Scholarship Award for top patient management, and the Vision West Student Leadership Award.  She was a trustee for the American Optometric Student Association, and served as National Vice President.  She was also the student liaison for the American Regulatory Board of Optometrists.  She is licensed to use therapeutics in California and has passed the National Board Examination in treatment and management of ocular diseases. 

Dr. Alderson is skilled in both adult and children's eye examinations.  She has experience with the most advanced contact lenses including silicone hydrogel, bifocal, and tinted sports contact lenses.  For those with mild to moderate nearsightedness, Dr. Alderson is certified in the fitting of Paragon CRT lenses.  This lens reshapes the cornea as you sleep for the temporary correction of nearsightedness.  She is often involved in contact lens research studies which help to bring you the most up to date technology for your eyes.

Dr. Alderson provides thorough LASIK consultations involving a detailed history of your eyes with specific measurements to ensure that you are a good candidate.  She works in conjunction with TLC Laser Eye Centers, one of the most highly regarded surgery centers in North America. 

Dr. Alderson is very active in her profession.  She is a Board Member for the Orange County Optometric Society and is an adjunct clinical instructor for the Southern California College of Optometry outreach program.  She has worked as a clinical instructor with the University of Waterloo Bridging Program in Canada, which trains optometrists and ophthalmologists from around the world.  She is also an active participant in the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Alderson's goal is for you to be happy with your vision and her motto is to treat all eyes as though they were her own.  Dr. Alderson lives in Irvine, California with her husband, who is also an optometrist.

 

Dr. Kevin Grant

Dr. Kevin Grant

Dr. Kevin Grant received his bachelors of science in applied-mathematics from UCLA in 2001.  While there, Dr. Grant was published for his involvement in organic chemistry synthesis researching nanotechnology. After graduating from UCLA, he went on to pursue his doctorate in optometry. Dr. Grant graduated with honors from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry in 2007.  

Once he finished his studies at UC Berkeley, Dr. Grant completed a one-year residency in ocular disease and primary care with the Veteran Affairs (VA) Boston Healthcare System in 2008.  He rotated through various ophthalmologic training clinics, including Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he received specialized retina, cornea, post-operative, and glaucoma training. 

In addition to giving two presentations on “Anterior Uveitis” and “Macular Degeneration and Antioxidants” for the New England College of Optometry Continuing Education series, he was selected as one of five optometry residents in the nation to be a presenter in the Southeastern Educational Congress of Optometry (SECO) series “High Hurdles: The Most Challenging Resident Cases of the Year.”

Dr. Grant is licensed in Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents in California and in Therapeutics/Glaucoma treatment in Pennsylvania.  He is certified to fit Paragon CRT orthokeratology contact lenses.  Dr. Grant is a member of the American Optometric Association and is an adjunct faculty at the Southern California College of Optometry and the University of Missouri - St. Louis College of Optometry.  Currently, he is applying to be a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

Dr. Grant is very passionate about optometry and takes great pride in providing the best possible care he can to each of his patients.  He currently resides on Balboa Island, where he enjoys running and reading.
