Pediatrians often monitor children's vision, however, it is recommended that  a child have a full vision evaluation when they first start school.  Untreated vision problems may lead to difficulty in school and learning.

If you notice signs of a lazy eye (an eye turn), squinting, excessive eye rubbing or trouble at school an eye exam is recommended.
